FAQs

  • Answer: Our community garden is dedicated to growing fresh, healthy produce for Lee’s Summit Social Services helping to address food insecurity in our local area. We also aim to foster community spirit, provide educational opportunities, and create a beautiful green space for everyone to enjoy.

  • We welcome volunteers of all skill levels! You can sign up for various tasks, including planting, weeding, watering, harvesting, and more. Check our volunteer schedule HERE for available dates. No prior gardening experience is necessary – just a willingness to help!

  • Answer: We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting dirty, closed-toe shoes, and a hat. Please bring sunscreen, a water bottle, and any personal gardening tools you prefer to use (though we provide tools as well). A positive attitude and willingness to get your hands dirty!

  • Answer: Our plan is to focus on growing high-yield, nutritious vegetables and fruits that are in demand at our local food pantry. This includes tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, peppers, green beans, lettuce, radishes, strawberries, and more. We strive to plant a diverse selection to provide a variety of fresh produce.
